What Can Web3 Creators Learn from the Music Industry and Audio NFTs?
Check out the following exciting examples!
As a creator, I’m sure that you sometimes feel pressure to come up with impressive NFTs that embrace NFT-membership capabilities.
To help spark ideas for our awesome Uncut.FM community, I researched some recent effective NFTs that musicians have created. My goal was to find what worked in the music industry, so that creators like you can apply those lessons to your endeavors.
In music industry, I found four areas that harness NFT-membership capabilities:
(1) Auctions
(2) Royalty splits
(3) Lifetime passes
(4) Visualizations
If you’re a creator — an artist, writer, videographer, streamer, educator, publisher, podcaster, or influencer — check out the following exciting examples. As you read, think about how you could emulate the simple yet brilliant NFTs explored here.
(1) Could A Top Auction Bidder Become Your Next Collaborator?
Justin Blau is a music producer who goes by DJ 3LAU. Last year, the highest bidder at his NFT auction secured a chance to collaborate with him on his next single.
As a creator, if you held an NFT auction related to one of your projects, what’s something amazing that you could offer the highest bidder?
(2) Crowdfunding that Buys Into Royalty Splits?
Ibn Inglor, an American rapper, raised $92,000 by selling NFTs to his fans. Those NFTs enabled him to create his next music project. Plus, the NFT holders all shared in 40% of the royalties earned from when Inglor’s next music project was released.
Diplo, an American DJ, recently released a song along with thousands of royalty ownership NFTs. Diplo is sharing 20% of the proceeds of the song with token holders.
As a creator, what NFTs could you create that both relate to your projects and provide your NFT-owners a share in your future revenues?
(3) Could You Offer a Lifetime Pass?
Coachella is one of the most popular music festivals in the world. Recently it released a bunch of digital collectibles that included lifetime festival passes.
As a creator, could you offer a lifetime pass to something that you create, something that your most loyal fans couldn’t refuse?
(4) Audio Visualizations?
Triptcip is a platform where musicians can create and sell NFTs based on visual content that’s synchronized to their music.
As a creator, if you work with audio, could you create NFTs with CGI visualizations of your projects?
